The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 2nd April to 8th April
Spanish forecasters were once again close to the mark with last week’s weather on Tenerife. The sun did shine most days and for long periods, it also rained as predicted on a few days and there was a slight dusting of snow on Mount Teide. The rainfall spread itself around the island so that at times when it rained in the south it was sunny in the north and when it rained in the north it was sunny in the south. The bulk of the rain also fell during the night which was very convenient. Overall it was probably even stevens in terms of the amount of rain and sun on both north and south coasts. To put Tenerife’s weather into perspective, this was probably the most rain that the island has experienced in a year…. and yet anyone visiting last week would still have returned home with a sun tan.

The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 9th April to 15th April
There’s less chance of rain this week although the life-giving April showers aren’t over yet. It looks as though the sun will shine most days on all coasts but Wednesday is probably not a good day for planning any walking on Tenerife if you want to enjoy sunny weather and sparkling views. The north should experience sunshine throughout the week except for a blip on Wednesday whilst the south is in for mixed weather during the first half of the week with a much sunnier second half.

Weather in South Tenerife – By all accounts it should be a cloudy start to the week (with sunny spells) and a sunny second half with Thursday to Sunday enjoying mostly sunshine. There’s between a 5 and 34% chance of rain on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Temperatures will stay around 23C in the shade.

Weather in North Tenerife – The forecast for the north looks more promising for sun-seekers with mostly sunny days except Wednesday which will be cloudy and Thursday which will be a mix of sun and cloud. There’s a 5 to 55% chance of rain on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Temperatures will stay around 19C in the shade.

Weather in East Tenerife – It’s a mix of cloud and sun every day in Santa Cruz and the south except Wednesday which will just be cloudy. Like the north, there’s a 5 to 55% chance of rain on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Temperatures will be about 22C in the shade all week.

Weather in South West Tenerife – Similar to the south it should be a cloudy start to the week (with sunny spells, especially on Tuesday afternoon) and a sunny second half with Thursday to Sunday enjoying mostly sunshine. There’s between a 5 and 40% chance of rain on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Temperatures will be around 24C in the shade.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It will be sunny in Mount Teide National Park most days. In the crater there will be a mix of cloud and sun on Tuesday and Wednesday will be quite dreary with a chance of rain. The summit will be similar except there could be snow  all day on Wednesday and on Friday morning. Temperatures in the crater will vary from 4C to 10C and from 0C to a very chilly -8C on the summit. It will also be windy up high at the start of the week so check the cable car is running before travelling.

So far today webcams around Tenerife show a sunny Tenerife just about everywhere except the east coast where there’s quite a bit of cloud.

Pic: Even a rainy day isn’t going to stop the daily card game at the harbour in Puerto de la Cruz.
