The Weather in Tenerife 27th December to 2nd January

Again the Spanish Meteorological Office (AEMet) were close with their weather predictions for Tenerife except that rain was hardly anywhere to be seen for most of the week. There were reports of it ‘tonking down’ in some southern areas midweek and there was some light rain on the north coast on Tuesday night, but nothing to write home about. After that it was a mainly sunny New Year weekend and although temperatures have dropped to the seasonal normal on New Year’s Day in Puerto de la Cruz it was still 17C at 3am in the morning. Not exactly balmy, but temperate enough for short party dresses at the open air New Year shindigs. New Year’s Day, like Christmas Day, was an absolute stunner.

The Weather in Tenerife 3rd January to 9th January

If the forecasters are right 2011 should get off to a beautiful start. Apart from a cloudy day forecast for today (Monday), the rest of the week is expected to be mostly sunny everywhere on Tenerife.

Weather in South Tenerife – A cloudy start on Monday and then mostly sun with occasional cloudy spells for the rest of the week. There’s a slight chance of rain between Friday and Sunday (2-15%). Temperatures should be around 24C.

Weather in North Tenerife – More or less exactly the same as the south, but with slightly more chance of rain at the weekend (between 15 and 20%). Temperatures should be around 24C.

Weather in East Tenerife – Similar to the north and the south with slightly cooler temperatures, 23C, and a greater chance of rain at the weekend – 20-35%.

Weather in South West Tenerife – Exactly the same as the forecast for the south of Tenerife.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – Sunny all week for the Teide National Park and Mount Teide’s summit except for Tuesday when there could be some cloud. Temperatures should averaging 11C in the crater and -2C on the summit.

The cable car should be operating all week.

So far today it’s a lovely sunny day on the north coast and the webcams that are working show similar conditions across all of Tenerife.
