The Weather Forecast for 18th to 24th March
Some English language weather reports last week illustrated why anyone wanting accurate detailed information about Tenerife’s weather on any one day should stick to the Spanish Meteorological site AEmet. Somewhere along the line it was reported that Tenerife was on an alert for strong winds, rain and high seas and, as is so often the case, a few websites soon started repeating the same misinformation.
The Spanish Met Office issued no such alert. They did issue an alert for serious waves but that is something else altogether and doesn’t necessarily mean stormy weather on land. The upshot was if you took notice of the inaccurate reports you might have missed some absolutely cracking weather for walking in Tenerife.
Overall it was mainly sunny with some cloudy spells and some decent rain on a couple of days, mainly during the night. Very typical weather for this time of year and perfect for plants. Tenerife’s northern and western hills are positively blooming with wild flowers.
Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 25th to 31st March
It should be a mainly sunny week across all of Tenerife with the outside chance of showers midweek. With the breeze coming from the north, the week will start on the fresh side in the shade. However, the wind changes direction from midweek and the temperatures will rise significantly. It should be a hot and sunny Easter weekend.
Weather in South Tenerife – Easter week is going to be a sunny one in the south of Tenerife with the only cloud worth mentioning being on Wednesday when there’s a 5% chance of rain. Temperatures will be around 20/23C
Weather in North Tenerife – Similar to the south with sunshine all week and a few clouds about on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Temperatures will start the week at a fresh 16C in the shade but there’s going to be a rise of 7 degrees in time for Easter weekend.
Weather in East Tenerife – The east gets the best of the sunshine again this week with every day being mainly sunny with very few clouds around. Temperatures will be around 19-21C.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Exactly the same as the south with a 5% chance of rain on Wednesday and temperatures ranging from 21C to 24C.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It will be sunshine all the way in the crater and on the summit of Mount Teide. It will still be quite a windy week on the summit. Not alert level but strong enough to warrant checking conditions before travelling to hike or take the cable car. Temperatures in the crater will vary between 9 and 15C, whilst on the summit they will be between 0C and 5C.
So far today webcams around Tenerife show a sunny Tenerife with only a few clouds about.
