Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 11th to 17th October

The Weather in Tenerife 4th to 10th October

Last week demonstrated exactly why most of the time there’s no need to fret about weather forecasts showing rain on Tenerife. Unsurprisingly it rained more in the north than the south, but as is common, the three times it rained was during the night and early morning. During the days it was a hot and sunny week  in the north with what little cloud turning up around late afternoon (4-ish) towards the end of the week.
It also rained in the south on a couple of occasions with the difference being reports indicated that it happened during the day and that it was more of a light drizzle. There was more cloud than forecast in the south, but also a lot of sunshine with the temperatures in the mid 20s.

There was an alert issued by AEMet for extreme weather conditions during the weekend, but this was for high seas on northern coasts, something that is common at this time of year and can be quite spectacular to watch. If in Puerto de la Cruz pay attention to lifeguards’ warnings about whether it’s safe to swim or not and if the waves are crashing against the sea wall, do not wander along it to get that close up shot of the ‘big one’.

The Weather in Tenerife 11th to 17th October

AEM are predicting an unsettled week for all of Tenerife with a chance of rain every day no matter where you are staying (except at the Parador). However, lets hope it turns out to be like last week which was the perfect weather for people who make a living from agriculture on Tenerife as well as visitors.

Weather in South Tenerife –  Mix of cloudy and sunny spells all week with a chance of rain every day. There’s more chance of rain at the start of the week (80%) than at the end(20%). Temperatures should be around 26C.

Weather in North Tenerife –  Mix of cloudy with sunny spells all week with a chance of rain every day. There’s more chance of rain at the start of the week (100%) than at the end(15%). Temperatures should be around 26C.

Weather in East Tenerife –  Mix of cloudy with sunny spells all week with a chance of rain every day. There’s more chance of rain at the start of the week (100%) than at the end(15%). Temperatures should be around 27C

Weather in South West Tenerife – Mix of cloudy with sunny spells all week with a chance of rain every day. There’s more chance of rain at the start of the week (90%) than at the end(20%). Temperatures should be around 26C.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater –  Looks like the crater is the place for guaranteed sunshine on Tenerife. Another sunny week in the crater with temperatures averaging 14C in the crater and 5C on the summit of Mount Teide.  To answer a query about whether these are daytime or night time temperatures, they’re day. But temperatures vary little between night and day. However, a wind chill factor on the summit can make it feel much, much colder at night.

So far today it’s a cloudy on the north coast with webcams showing scattered clouds and sunshine in the south and sunny in the south east. The south west webcams continue to remain broken.

If walking in mountainous areas in Tenerife be sure to take a light rain jacket this week.
