The Spanish Met Office’s hot weather alerts are becoming a regular part of each week during this summer on Tenerife.
A yellow alert has been put in place from 9am this morning until 7pm on Saturday (at the moment).
The alert covers the south, west and east of Tenerife with temperatures of 34C in the shade predicted (funny how it’s nearly always 34C).
Take extra care if walking – even in the north where temps are still around the 30C mark.
It hasn’t been issued yet, but we’re expecting notification from Cabildo about a fire ban in the hills at some point today.
Note: The hot weather alert has been extended till Monday night at 7pm and now includes the north coast as well. Today (Saturday 28th Aug) & tomorrow will be particularly hot in the south, east and west where the alert has been put up to ‘Orange’ level and temps are expected to top 38C. A fire ban has been put in place in the hills by the Cabildo.
