The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 18th to 24th June
We read the signs right when we predicted a heatwave was on the way. It didn’t actually arrive last week, but with temperatures pushing 30C+ it was difficult to tell. Apart from a few rogue clouds in the south midweek, it was mainly hot & sunny for most of the week and with perfect weather for the Midsummer San Juan beach parties and the bathing of the goats in Puerto de la Cruz on Midsummer’s Day.

Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 25th June to 1st July
The start of the week sees the arrival of a serious heatwave that could bring temperatures of 36C in the shade to the south and south west coasts. Such is the severity of the heatwave, the Spanish Meteorological Office have issued a yellow level weather warning for today and an orange level (dangerous) warning from Tuesday for southern parts. It will be even hotter in the hills (both south and north) with temperatures of 38C predicted. We would strongly advise anyone not to go walking on Tenerife whilst the weather alert is in place. Things should calm down for the second half of the week when it should simply be hot on Tenerife rather than a searing cauldron. The north coast should escape the worst of it with temperatures staying around a more bearable upper 20sC.

Weather in South Tenerife –  The start of the week will be sunny and very, very hot – too hot with temperatures reaching 36C in the shade. Wednesday will be cloudy and after that it will be mainly sunny and windy with a few light clouds for the rest of the week with temperatures dropping to a much better 27C.

Weather in North Tenerife
– Mostly sunny with a few light clouds except for Friday and Saturday when there will be a mix of sun and cloud and a 5% chance of rain. The heatwave won’t affect the north as much as other areas so temperatures will remain around 25C in the shade.

Weather in East Tenerife – It will be sunny on the east coast until Friday when the cloud will roll in and stay till Sunday when there will be a mix of cloud and sun. There’s a 5-15% possibility of rain on Friday and Saturday. The heatwave won’t affect the east coast as much as the south but temperatures will still be a hot 28C in the shade.

Weather in South West Tenerife – The south west mirrors the south with a sunny start to the week; cloud and sun on Wednesday; and mainly sunshine through to Sunday. The south west will also be hit by the heatwave rocketing temperatures to 36C by Tuesday before the second half of the week sees normal temps of 28C return. Also like the south it could be quite windy from Wednesday onwards.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater
– Once again it will be unbroken sunshine all week on Mount Teide and in Teide National Park. Temperatures in the crater will vary from 21C to a hot 23C on Saturday night and from 5C to 10C on the summit.

So far today webcams around Tenerife show a thick haze across Tenerife.
