The Weather Forecast for 20th to 26th January 2014
This weather front obviously likes the Canary Islands far too much. It’s more of the same for Tenerife for another week – sun, cloud, rainy spells, cool wind in parts, strong wind in others and snowfall on Mount Teide.

Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 13th to 19th January
Another week of mixed sunny spells, cloud, rain and quite cool weather for Tenerife. It is turning out to be a damp winter. Although the sun shone at times, the south of the island experienced a lot of cloudy spells not helped by a cool wind and occasional rain in parts. The north experienced more short sharp downpours between sunny spells but without the wind. All in all not particularly great anywhere.

Weather in South Tenerife –  Much the same as last week with most days seeing cloudy spells, especially Monday and Tuesday, but with some sunshine as well. Although there’s a 5-95% chance of rain each day, Thursday to Saturday look best for the most sun. Temperatures are going to follow the same pattern as the previous few weeks, starting at 23C and dipping to 17/18C from Wednesday.

Weather in North Tenerife – In the north it’s the other way around; the best of the sunshine should be between Monday and Wednesday with the second half of the week being cloudier, especially the weekend. There’s a 10% possibility of rain at some point today but after that it’s almost certain there will be showers every day. Again it will feel cool in the shade, starting the week at a decent 20C but ending it around 15C.

Weather in East Tenerife –  Weather pattern and temperatures should be exactly the same as the north.

Weather in South West Tenerife – As it so often is, the more south westerly you go, the better the weather. It will be mainly sunny most days although there will be cloud as well, especially Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Like everywhere else there’s a strong likelihood of showers from Tuesday onwards. Temperatures follow the same pattern as everywhere else, 21C today dropping to 17C by the second half of the week.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – There will be plenty of sun in Teide National Park all week, but in the crater there will be cloud and rain from Monday night to Wednesday night and over the weekend. On the summit it could snow at some point every day except Friday. It is going to be a very windy week on high with winds reaching speeds of 85km on the summit and 65km at the lower cable car station, so it’s likely the cable car won’t be running and the park might possibly be out of bounds during some of the week. Temperatures will range between 6 and 9C in the crater and 1 and -2C on the summit where the wind chill factor will make it feel more like -13C.

Pic: Even on a bad week on Tenerife there’s usually still time to catch a few rays.
