The Weather Forecast for 13th to 19th January 2014
It looks like the second half of the week will be unsettled on Tenerife. Although we should see sunshine most days, there will be a lot of cloud around and the likelihood of rain increases from Wednesday with showers being almost a certainty over the weekend. Temperatures will be low this week, barely reaching above 20C in the shade anywhere, and it will be extremely cold in Teide National Park with -6C predicted. It also looks as though there could be snow most days on Mount Teide, so some interesting weather over the next few days.

Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 6th to 12nd January
It was one of those weeks that had just about everything. The huge waves at the start of the week were joined midweek by rain, snow and hailstones with some quite incredible images of the south and east of Tenerife appearing online, looking as though snow had fallen near the coast – something that is unheard of. By all accounts it was thick hail, but it did look freaky. From Friday the skies in the north cleared, revealing a stunning looking Teide, and it was mostly blue skies and warm sunshine through to Sunday. In the south, although the rain stopped, it remained quite cool with a lot of cloud still hanging about.

Weather in South Tenerife –  It will be mainly sunny on Monday, a mix of sun and cloud on Tuesday and Wednesday will be grew and gloomy. After it will be cloudy with sunny spells for the rest of the week. There is also a 5 chance of rain from today rising to 95% as the week progresses. Rain is almost guaranteed between Thursday and Sunday. Temperatures are going to be quite low this week starting at 22C, dipping to 16C on Wednesday then staying around 18C until Sunday.

Weather in North Tenerife
– Much the same pattern as the south except Wednesday might not be quite as gloomy as the sun should shine at some point. There’s a 25% possibility of rain tonight and from Tuesday onwards an 80-100% chance. It will feel cool in the shade. Starting at 18C and ending the week around 16C.

Weather in East Tenerife –  Similar to everywhere else on Tenerife with a sunny Monday and a mix of cloud and sun every other day except Wednesday which will be cloudy. The chance of rain also follows the same pattern as the south and north with a slight possibility this even and almost certain showers during the rest of the week. Temperatures will be the same as the north.

Weather in South West Tenerife – Pretty much the same as the south of Tenerife except it should be sunnier between Thursday and Sunday.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – Not a great week in Teide National Park with a mix of cloud and sun every day except, ironically given what’s happening elsewhere, Wednesday. There’s a likelihood of rain in the crater every day, especially during the night which means that there could also be snow showers every day on Mount Teide. Temperatures will range between 4 and 10C in the crater and 1 and -6C on the summit. It could also be windy from Thursday onwards so with the mix of wind, snow, rain and low temperatures, we’re expecting that the cable car won’t be running and roads to Teide will be closed at some point.

Pic: You’ve seen a similar picture many times but we love to see snow on Teide.
