Looks like we got the signs spot on in our weather forecast for this week. AEMet have issued a severe weather alert, level yellow, for hot weather temperatures in the south, east and west of Tenerife for Wednesday 11th August. The alert also includes the highlands of La Orotava and Vilaflor.
In all those places temperatures are expected to reach 34C in the shade.
The level increases to an orange alert on Thursday when temperatures are expected to reach 37c in the shade in the east, west and south of Tenerife. There is also a yellow alert for high winds and temperatures of 34C on Thursday in the highlands of La Orotava and Vilaflor with gusts predicted to reach 75kmh.
This sounds like a serious calima, so we’d advise against walking in the areas mentioned on Thursday. The alert last until 7pm on Thursday…at the moment.
WEATHER ALERT UPDATE: Although the alert for high temperatures finishes at 7pm, the yellow alert for high winds in the highlands of La Orotava and Vilaflor continues until midnight on Friday night.
What a complete turn around from what we have had for the last 2 days
The weather is all over the place this year.
