The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 31st July to 5th August
The predicted heatwave sent temperatures soaring in parts of Tenerife – and it was already very hot before the hot calima arrived for its weekend in the Canary Islands. Whilst it might sound bliss to anyone sitting in much cooler and wetter climes, it is worrying times on the islands with La Palma and La Gomera especially falling victim to either stupidity or criminal behaviour as fires once again burn on both islands. In the south the week started out gloriously until the calima arrived and turned up the heat, bring dull looking sandy skies. In the north, the week started out quite cloudy but ended sunny and hot, the calima, as is the norm, not affecting northern shores in the
Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 6th to 12th August
A similar week to last week, it will be a hot and sunny week most places on Tenerife with temperatures ranging from warm at the start of the week becoming very, very hot by the weekend. Don’t be surprised to see another weather alert before the week is out. With temperatures at around the 1000 metre mark being hotter than the coast at this time of year, anyone planning on walking on Tenerife should experience less draining conditions on routes should between the coast and 500 metres.
Weather in South Tenerife – A slight difference from recent weeks in that Tuesday could be quite cloudy. Apart from that it’s sunshine as normal. The weeks starts with temperatures around 26C but these will climb to 30C on Friday and stay there for the weekend. As the jump is accompanied by winds of up to 30kph it could be a sign of more calima.
Weather in North Tenerife – It will be a sunny week in the north of Tennerife with Temperatures starting at 21C before climbing to 28C by Saturday.
Weather in East Tenerife – The east of Tenerife will experience mostly sunshine with some cloud on Thursday morning. For the second week in a row the temperature will remain more or less constant on the east coast, staying around 24/25C.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Much like the south with mainly sun and some cloud but only on Tuesday afternoon. The week will start at 28C rising to 30C for the weekend when the south west will also be affected by breezy weather.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It will be sunshine all week on Mount Teide and in Teide National Park. It’s going to be a particularly hot week in the crater with temperatures ranging from 16C at the start of the week and peaking at 25C on Thursday and Friday. On the summit it will vary between 7C and 11C .
So far today webcams around Tenerife show mostly sunshine across Tenerife with a few clouds still to be burnt off.
Pic: With the hills being hot and dry, coastal walking may be an option. The coastal walk between La Caleta and Los Cristianos doesn’t have the natural beauty of Tenerife’s forests and highlands but it’s interesting in its own way.
