The Weather in Tenerife 21st February to 27th February
Spanish forecasters once again hit the weather nail right on the head for Tenerife. On the whole it was a beautiful, sunny week across the island and any clouds that appeared didn’t hang around for very long. Temperatures rose a couple of degrees as predicted and by the end of the week the thermometer wasn’t moving from the mid 20s mark. It would have been a perfect week for carnaval on Tenerife.
The Weather in Tenerife 28th February to 6th March
Carnaval on Tenerife is, however, later this year and whilst in theory that should make the chances of the weather being good even better, anyone who knows carnaval season will be aware that it always seems to rain at some point during carnaval week. It’s like a law of nature. The good news is that even on the days when there’s a chance of rain, sunshine is also predicted. That usually means rainfall should be short-lived and possibly even during the night. Good news if you’re a beach hugging sunseeker, not so good if you’re a carnaval reveller at one of the all night street parties.
With the chance of rain comes a slight drop in temperatures and the start of weekend will be a bit less warm. It should be around 20C in the shade during the day possibly falling to 13/14 at night…not ideal for those more flesh than fabric carnival costumes.
Weather in South Tenerife – Mostly sunny with only occasional light cloud from Monday to Wednesday. There will be slightly more cloud from Thursday to Sunday with between a 15 and 45% chance of rain. Temperatures should be around 21C.
Weather in North Tenerife – Sunny Monday then a mix of sun and cloud with more sun than cloud from Friday to Sunday. There’s a 20 to 65% chance of rain from Thursday to Sunday. Temperatures should average around 20C.
Weather in East Tenerife – Cloudy with sunny spells on Monday, cloudy Tuesday and a mix of sun and cloud from Thursday to Sunday. There’s a 10 to 70% chance of rain from Tuesday to Sunday with the greatest likelihood being on Friday…the day of the carnaval opening parade. Temperatures should be around 19C.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Mostly sunny with only occasional light cloud from Monday to Wednesday. There will be slightly more cloud from Thursday to Sunday with between a 10 and 40% chance of rain. Temperatures should be around 21C.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – A sunny week at both crater and summit levels in Mount Teide National Park, apart from the chance of snow showers on Friday night. There is a serious plummet in temperature towards the end of the week with an average 15C in the crater at the beginning of the week dropping to 3C by the end and on the summit, 4C dropping to an icy -4C.
At this moment the cable car is operating normally.
So far today the beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing continues with clear blue skies across Tenerife.
