The Weather in Tenerife 9th January to 15th January
On the whole it was another warm and sunny week across Tenerife when the temperatures, at times reaching the mid 20s in both south and north coasts, made a mockery of the fact that it was winter. Thursday saw some high cloud blot out the sun across the island even though a very light calima kept temperatures warm. By end of the weekend there was more cloud about with the south starting cloudy but ending sunny and the north starting the day in sunshine but ending it in cloud.
The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 16th January to 22nd January
On Sunday night the Spanish Met Office predicted a rainy week for Tenerife…this morning it’s sunshine and smiles. We’re not so sure. It was around this time in January last year when an unseasonably balmy winter gave way to more typical weather for this time of year – still warm but not the temperatures we’ve been experiencing. The U-turn with the prediction suggests that the weather is behaving unpredictably, so we wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few more turns before the week is out. And the big weather news is that snow is predicted for Mount Teide this week.
This is also the time when anyone planning on walking on Tenerife should head for Santiago del Teide where almond blossom season should be adding a soft pink hue to the landscape.
Weather in South Tenerife – The forecast has done a U-turn in the last couple of days. Where it was looking as though winter had finally arrived, the forecast for the south at the moment is for a mix of cloud and sun today with the rest of the week being mainly sunny, except for a few light clouds Temperatures might drop a degree to be around 22C all week. There’s a 5 to 35% chance of rain from Thursday to Sunday.
Weather in North Tenerife – Like the south, it looked as though rain was more or less guaranteed but that seems less sure now. There should be be a mix of sun and cloud all week with a 5% chance of rain Tuesday and a 5 to 55% chance from Thursday to Sunday. Temperatures should be around 18C in the shade.
Weather in East Tenerife – Monday, Tuesday and Friday will be mainly sunny with the rest of the week a mix of sun and cloud except for Saturday which will be cloudy. There’s a 5% chance of rain on Tuesday and 5 to 605 from Thursday to Sunday. Temperatures will be around 20C in the shade.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Mainly sunny from Tuesday to Friday with the rest of the week seeing a mix of sun and cloud. Temperatures should be the warmest on Tenerife at around 23/24C and there will be a 5 to 40% chance of rain between Thursday and Sunday.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – The crater will be its usual sun-soaked self except for Tuesday and Wednesday. Same for the summit with the only difference that the cloud could bring some snow. Temperatures in the crater will vary from 5 to 11C; less so on the summit where it will remain around -1c for most of the week.
So far today webcams around Tenerife show the weather to be pretty much as predicted – cloud with sunny breaks in the south and sunny with some cloud in the north.

Just been catching up on reading this and am hoping and praying for a lot of rain for the whole island!
Still not looking great Steve. Fingers crossed that February will break the drought.
