Again the weather turned out to be pretty much as AEMet predicted. The week started off cloudy everywhere on Monday, but the rain that was forecast didn’t materialise. After that it was another hot week with plenty of sunshine all over Tenerife until Sunday which had more cloud than sun during the day with the cloud clearing up by late afternoon.

The Weather in Tenerife 13th to 19th September

Weather in South Tenerife
–  A sunny start to Monday becoming cloudy in the afternoon with a 5% chance of rain. It will stay cloudy on Tuesday, again with a 5% chance of rain. Wednesday should be a mix of sun and clouds then mostly sunny from Thurs to Sunday. Average temperatures will be around 28C.

Weather in North Tenerife –  Like the south it’s a sunny start to Monday becoming cloudy in the afternoon, but with a 10% chance of rain. It will stay cloudy on Tuesday, again with a 10% chance of rain. Wednesday and Thursday should be a mix of sun and clouds then mostly sunny from Fri to Sunday. Average temperatures will be around 27C

Weather in East Tenerife
– Exactly the same as the north apart from their being a 5% chance of rain on Monday & Tuesday and also a 5-10% possibility from Friday to Sunday despite sunny days being predicted. As usual, the east is predicted to be the hottest part of the island with temperatures averaging 30C.

Weather in South West Tenerife – Same forecast as the south, with temperatures being around 27-28C all week.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – Sunny most of the week except from Tuesday to Thursday when there will be some high cloud. Temperatures in the crater should range from 13-18C and a cool 5-9C at the summit.
It’s predicted to be quite a windy week at the summit of Mount Teide, especially on Thursday afternoon when wind speeds are expected to reach 40kmh. If planning a trip on the cable car, it might be worth checking out that it is operating before setting off.

Anyone fretting about the predicted rain shouldn’t worry too much. With a 5-10 percent possibility it’s more than likely it won’t happen and even if it did rain, at this time of year the chances are a) it will be short-lived b) it will be light c) it will be in the hills and d) it will be at night.

Looking at webcams around the island (Monday am) and checking the weather outside, it’s a lovely morning on Tenerife. There’s sunshine and blue skies across all of the island.

Looks like it will be another great week for walking and hiking on Tenerife.
