The Weather in Tenerife 23rd January to 29th January
The Spanish weather forecasters weren’t too wide of the mark last week, it was a week of cloud and sun around Tenerife with the north coast enjoying slightly more sunshine than the south. Temperatures on the coast ranged from 17C to 23C. The rain didn’t materialise except there were reports of a brief shower in parts. Whilst low rainfall is normal for the south at this time of year, the continued lack of rain in the north concerns some with newspapers reporting that this year has seen an unusually dry period. Visitors won’t be complaining but it’s worrying for farmers. The almond blossom display in Santiago del Teide doesn’t seem to have reached full bloom yet presumably due to a lack of water. At least the lack of seasonal rain meant that this year’s San Abad celebrations on Tenerife were dry ones… apart from at the kiosks selling robust country wine. Yet again the predicted snow on Mount Teide failed to materialise.

The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 30th January to 5th February
The forecast for Tenerife for the coming week looks like it’s a brighter picture for visitors but not for farmers. A cloudy start will give way to a mainly sunny week everywhere. But the possibility of decent rainfall is still quite remote.

Weather in South Tenerife – After a cloudy start to the week it should be mostly sunshine from Tuesday to Sunday with temperatures around 22C in the shade. There’s a 5% chance of rain on Friday and Saturday. It also looks like it could be a breezy weekend.

Weather in North Tenerife
–  Much the same as the south except it should be a brighter start with some sunshine today. There might also be a bit more cloud on Friday and Saturday when there will be a 10 to 15% possibility of rainfall. Temperatures should be around 18C in the shade. Also like the south it could be a breezy weekend.

Weather in East Tenerife – A cloudy Monday will be followed by a sunny Tuesday. After that it will be a mix of cloud and sun till Sunday when the sun will dominate. Like nearly everywhere else there’s a chance of rain on Friday and Saturday (10% to 20%). Temperatures will be around 20C in the shade.

Weather in South West Tenerife
– A similar story as the south; a cloudy Monday with some sun this afternoon followed by a mainly sunny week with a 5 to 10% possibility of rain on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures should be about 23C in the shade.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It’s more or less the same weather conditions in the crater and on the summit this coming week. The cloud is above Mount Teide this morning which usually means that it’s cloudy all over Tenerife. After today it should be sunny all week except for Saturday afternoon. Temperatures in the crater will vary from 5 to 9Cand from -1 to -6 on the summit. Snow is forecast for Thursday night.

So far today webcams around Tenerife show a lot of cloud over Tenerife. But there are some blue breaks.

Pic: It was party time in the hills for Tenerife’s animals over the weekend with the San Abad livestock fairs. This one was at La Matanza.
