The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 16th to 22nd July
The fire in the south of Tenerife dominated events last week as professionals and volunteers fought all week to bring the fire, which covered an area of 5,000 hectares, under control. With a heatwave, calima and breezy weather affecting everywhere but the north, weather conditions were no help to the firefighters. It was one of those weeks where it was simply too hot in the south of Tenerife with temperatures reaching 40C in some places. In the north it was sunny for most of the week and temperatures in the upper 20s seemed deliciously refreshing compared to the southern cauldron. With the forest fires and heatwave it was not a week for walking on Tenerife.

Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 23rd to 29th July

Although the forest fire has been brought under control and downgraded to a level 1, there will still be hot spots over the next 2 weeks and Tenerife’s Government has advised against walking in the forest or visiting picnic sights. All roads have now re-opened so things are gradually getting back to normal but extreme care in the forests is always sensible at this time of year. Even as I type there are reports of a new fire in the hills above Tacoronte and a helicopter carrying water has just flown over the house.
Last week ended with another minor heatwave but so far the coming week looks like it will be free of extreme conditions with a hot and sunny one predicted for all parts.

Weather in South Tenerife –   It will be hot and sunny all week with temperatures of 29/30C.

Weather in North Tenerife
– Same as the south, it will be a sunny week with temperatures of 25/26C.

Weather in East Tenerife – Apart from a mix of sun and cloud on Monday morning, the east of Tenerife will also enjoy a sunny week and hot temperatures (29C).

Weather in South West Tenerife – Like everywhere else it will be a sunny week with temperatures of around 30/31C.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It will be sunshine all week on Mount Teide and in Teide National Park. Temperatures in the crater will start hot (25C) and cool down from Tuesday (15/17C). On the summit it will vary between 6C and 9C and from 9C.

So far today webcams around Tenerife show mostly a sunny Tenerife with some hazy cloud in the north still to be burnt off by the sun.
