The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 6th to 12th August
Anyone lying on a sun bed in one of Tenerife’s resorts who wasn’t keeping an eye on the news would probably report that it had been a wonderfully hot and sunny week all over Tenerife. However, another badly timed act of stupidity combined with another heatwave that brought hot winds and temperatures of 40C in the hills combined to send a fire near Erjos, in the west of the island, out of control. Unfortunately La Gomera’s fires, which had been brought under control last week, flared up again. At present Tenerife’s fires are stabilised whereas La Gomera’s are still out of control as the heatwave which was expected to leave the archipelago yesterday, remains until Tuesday. Whilst there is absolutely no need for anyone visiting Tenerife to be concerned, walking in Tenerife’s hills should be avoided at the moment.
Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 13th to 19th August
On the face of it, a hot sunny week without any extremes of weather is predicted for all of Tenerife with yellow level alerts for high temperatures remaining in place until Tuesday. But there are a couple of anomalies that raise a couple of questions. Rain showers predicted for Teide National Park and nowhere else plus temperatures in the north rising by a few degrees, whilst temps in other areas don’t, suggest unusual weather conditions next weekend. What that actually might mean is hard to say as these factors don’t seem to fit to any of the normal patterns.
Weather in South Tenerife – A hot and sunny week with still ‘too high’ temperatures on Monday and Tuesday before things settled down to a more bearable upper 20s low 30s for the rest of the week. It might be breezy from Thursday onwards.
Weather in North Tenerife – It will be a sunny week in the north of Tenerife with temperatures not as hot as the south, starting at 28C before settling at around 26C for most of the week and climbing to 29C on Sunday.
Weather in East Tenerife – The east of Tenerife will experience mostly sunshine with some cloud on Thursday morning. The week will start hot at 29C before settling around 24/26C through to Sunday.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Same as everywhere else – hot and sunny all week. The week will start at around 35C before cooling down as the week progresses to upper 20C levels. Like the south, the south west will also be affected by breezy weather over the weekend.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It will be sunshine all week on Mount Teide and in Teide National Park. It’s going to be another hot week in the crater with temperatures ranging from 19C at the start of the week and peaking at 23C on Thursday and Friday. On the summit it will vary between 7C and 10C. Bizarrely, despite sun being forecast everywhere on Tenerife, some rain is forecast for Saturday night in the park and on Mount Teide.
So far today webcams around Tenerife show mostly a sunny south, east and west and parts of north Tenerife with a cloudy north west.
