The Weather Forecast for 16th December to 22nd December
It looks like it will be a much better week across Tenerife. Although there is still the chance of rain everywhere, it doesn’t look as though it will be significant and sunshine is forecast for every day in most places. It will be a cooler week than it often is at this time of year but in the sunshine it should still feel very warm.

Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 9th December to 15th December
Those weather alerts turned to red alerts during the week as weather fronts clashed causing wind, rain, wild seas and thunder and lightning. The rain was the biggest problem causing flooding and rockfalls. The east and south were, once again, the worst affected with some southern resorts being hit to such a level that the Tenerife Government advised tourists to stay in their hotels. It was a horrible week in most parts until Friday when the clouds cleared, the blue skies returned and Mount Teide appeared in full white winter costume. Unfortunately, as always, there were a lot of incorrect reports flying around thanks to the UK press being two days behind reality and some sources quoting an article in the Daily Mail that was published over a decade ago.

Weather in South Tenerife –  The south of Tenerife should experience a better week than it has seen for a few weeks with mainly sunshine every day, although there will be a few clouds about. There is also a chance of rain each day but only a 5-55% chance. Temperatures won’t be as high as they can be for this time of year with the week starting at around 23C dropping to 18C by the weekend.

Weather in North Tenerife – Although the sun should shine every day there will be more cloud around than in the south. There’s a 5-90% possibility of rain each day with Thursday looking cloudiest and wettest. Temperatures will start the week at 19C and end it at 15C in the shade which is unusually low.

Weather in East Tenerife –  The first half of the week will be a mix of cloud and sun whereas the second half of the week will be mainly cloudy. Temperatures are the same as the north and there will be a 5-90% chance of rain every day.

Weather in South West Tenerife – A mix of sun and cloud every day in the south west with a 5-55% chance of rain. Temperatures should mirror those of the south.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It will be back to its usual sunny self in Teide National Park for most of the week although there will be some cloud around on Friday and Saturday and maybe even some rain on Thursday night. Temperatures on the summit of Mount Teide will range from a chilly -5C to a cold 0C and from 6 to 15C in the crater. It looks like it’s going to be a windy week up there with some strong winds forecast so check the cable car is operating before setting out.
