The Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 9th to 15th July
It was one of those weeks that can be typical for the first half of July – hot, sunny and breezy in the south with the trade winds bringing a mini panza del burro (local term for a period of sustained clouds) to the north coast (more of a panza del burrito) for most of the week where it was warm but cloudy for much of the week. Even the normally reliable Día de la Embarcación was cloudy this year. Unfortunately the hot breezy weather in the south led to the thing we fear on the island after a dry winter – a forest fire in Ifonche that started on Sunday at about 3pm and which has already affected 1200 hectares of land. Fire-fighters are currently trying to bring the blaze under control.

Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 16th to 22nd July
It should be another hot and sunny week across Tenerife. A weather alert for temperatures of up to 36C is in place for the south, south west and at altitude until the end of Tuesday and we would strongly advise against walking on Tenerife in these areas whilst this is in place. Similarly we would also avoid going anywhere near the Ifonche area until the forest fire is brought under control.

Weather in South Tenerife –   Another hot and sunny week in the south of Tenerife with a yellow alert heatwave warning in place for temperatures of 36C (in the shade) lasting until Wednesday – the worst possible timing as far as the forest fire is concerned. From Wednesday onwards temperatures drop back to about 29C and it looks like it’s set to be another breezy weekend.

Weather in North Tenerife
– It looks like the cloud has moved and a sunny week is forecast except for Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. The heatwave affecting the south doesn’t affect the north coast where temperatures will start the week at 27C and end it at around 25C.

Weather in East Tenerife – A re-run of last week with hot, sunny and breezy weather on the east coast except for Saturday which will see a mix of sun and cloud. Temperatures will be a hot 28/29C.

Weather in South West Tenerife – A heatwave alert is aslo in place in the south west until Wednesday even though Tuesday afternoon will be cloudy with sunny spells. After that it’s mainly sunshine and temperatures of around 30C. It will be quite breezy from Tuesday afternoon onwards.

Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – Apart from Tuesday afternoon It will be sunshine all week on Mount Teide and in Teide National Park. Temperatures in the crater will vary from 25C at the start of the week  cooling down to 21C by the weekend and from 9C to 10C on the summit.

So far today webcams around Tenerife show a sunny, if hazy, Tenerife.
