11 March 2019 – Following a visit to Masca Ravine by the mayor of Buenavista del Norte (the municipality where Masca is located) there has been an official update on what’s happening regarding safety improvements to the Masca Barranco and unfortunately none of it is good.
Although work on improving safety aspects of the ravine (new handrails etc.) are said to have ‘progressed’, work on the jetty at the beach hasn’t even started, although plans are now in place for the work to go out to tender.
As a result the revised estimate for opening is now summer, but even that seems questionable given the latest info available. It’s also been confirmed that visitors will have to pay to walk the ravine and also access to Masca will be only by public transport.
We’ll have to wait and see exactly how that will be implemented and will continue to keep you posted with any news.
