Anyone wanting to see Tenerife’s incredible tajinaste flower in bloom should head to Teide National Park over the next two weeks as the scarlet flowers are putting in their spectacular display at this very moment. By the end of the month, most will be skeletal.

A word of warning for anyone planning to walk in the Teide crater over the coming days – take plenty of water and hats are essential. It’s good advice for walking in the crater at any time, but essential during a ‘hot weather alert’.
