I recently heard some interesting statistics – that 35% of Brits and 41% of Germans like to go walking while they are on holidays – and last weekend, I realised just how easy it is for anyone on their Tenerife Holidays to do just that.

I can easily recall the first time that I was captivated by the sun heading to bed and turning a view of the north coast which had already been stunning into one that was mystical and magical.

We were ready to set off on our traditional Boxing Day walk and we´d chosen to hike to La Fortaleza.
When we set off, we discovered that we’re not the only ones who traditionally take a walk on this day as the path that leads from behind the visitor centre was unusually busy with hikers of every nationality.

You’d think that walking down a ravine towards the sea would be straightforward, right? Wrong as two visitors to Tenerife found out last week when they strayed from the path in the Masca Barranco and found themselves hopelessly lost.
