There’s nothing particularly spectacular about this shot but it sort of sums up some of the reasons why the Anaga Mountains are our favourite area for walking in Tenerife. They make you feel quite small.

There isn’t a great amount of wildlife in Tenerife’s hills so it always brings a smile when we stumble across something other than birds, butterflies and bunnies. There are plenty of goats and they’re usually good for a pose.

A narrow track wound downwards to the coast, passing small cottages with bleached woodwork window and door frames and peeling plaster walls decorated by the shadows of palm trees that added a distinctly Caribbean aspect.

I can easily recall the first time that I was captivated by the sun heading to bed and turning a view of the north coast which had already been stunning into one that was mystical and magical.

The Spanish Meteorological Office AEMet have issued a yellow level (low) warning for heavy rain on the north coast of Tenerife and the highlands of La Orotava and Vilaflor.

The Tenerife Government have announced that access to the summit of Mount Teide is closed until at least 20 December because of ice and heavy snow.

It looks as though we got the prediction we made on the home page of Real Tenerife right…just. Admittedly you have to look closely to confirm it is actually snow, but the inclement weather up high on Tenerife yesterday has definitely left a slight dusting of snow; the first of the season.
