A big round of applause should go to the alfombristas (carpet makers) of La Orotava who, despite constant rain today, still turned out to complete carpet designs around the town and keep the tradition alive. Apparently, this is the first year since 1942 that it has rained on Corpus Christi carpets day.

The Spanish Met Office has called off the weather warning for ‘hot’ temperatures on Tenerife…and yet the actual temperatures in the north don’t feel as though they’ve lost any of their intensity – they are still 30+.
